Loughborough Foxes comfortably moved into the first round proper of the FAWSL cup on Sunday with a 5-0 win over Sporting Khalsa.
Foxes dominated the game from start to finish but only had a first half goal from Chloe Young to show for their control and supremacy. In the second half though, Foxes added four more goals as stand-in captain Laura Steele scored twice, the first of which was a beautifully struck free kick. In addition Steele also had a hand in two other goals as both Brackenbury and Young scored from well worked corners.
Steele’s second goal was a tap in as she followed up a Young drive, while Young then scored a brilliant fifth with a fine solo run and then drive which secured the Foxes’ route into the next round.
Foxes are eagerly awaiting the draw for the next round, while also looking forward to a run of four away games in the next five.
Foxes reserves also started the season with a 3-1 away win at Khalsa reserves with two goals from Liz Mulvaney and another from Tiana Hicks.
